Vision in action

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.“
Wayne Dyer

If you can see it, you can create it

Inspiring your people

We’ve all seen many examples of company visions that are unclear, uninspiring, unimaginative, unconvincing or just downright dull. They talk about market shares, profitability, performance… completely devoid of any emotion or personality. When you have a vision that could just as easily be applied to another company, it’s unlikely to inspire anyone.

As a leader you have to inspire your people to realize what they, and your company, are capable of in terms of behavior and achievement. People have to imagine it before they can create it. Like a world-cup skier visualizing a run down the slope prior to doing it for real.

Everyone can contribute

At all levels of an organization, this can have an enormous impact. For example, if employees on the customer front-line - serving drinks, solving problems by phone, directing passengers, selling policies – can see how they contribute to the purpose of the company, the difference to your business is incalculable.

Extraordinarily productive days

During a journey you spend extraordinarily productive days far from the office with your core management team or fellow board members. You have, for example, the time to get to the heart of your company’s purpose and then translate the knowledge into a vision (as well as mission) that genuinely resonates. Or to define a plan of action for how you are going to get people within and outside the company to fully embrace your chosen direction.

Activating purposeful thinking

We have a proven process for this. It activates purposeful thinking - who am I, why am I here, how am I as a leader - and encourages exploration, participation, cooperation and collaboration. This group element is indispensable; visioning takes place on individual, team and organization-wide level, and therefore involves everyone.

The dictionary defines vision as; ‘great perception, especially of future developments’. Through a journey you substantially increase the possibility that the future developments of your company will be positive ones.
